Admissions - 2025 Reception Intake
Admission to Higham St John's C E Primary School:
The school follows the Lancashire Education Authority guidelines for admissions. Children are admitted to Higham St John's in the September of the academic year in which they turn five years old.
Our standard admission number is 20.
Admissions Criteria:
When a school is oversubscribed on parental preferences, then the following priorities apply in order:
- Looked after children and those who have been previously looked after, including those legally adopted from overseas, then
- Children for whom the Local Authority accepts that there are exceptional medical social or welfare reasons which are directly relevant to the school concerned, then
- Children with older brothers and sisters attending the school when the younger child will start, then
- Remaining places are allocated according to where a child lives. Those living nearest to the preferred school by a straight line (radial) measure will have priority.
If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact us and we will be happy to talk the process through with you.
Please be aware that all applications for a school place must now be completed online. Lancashire County Council provide a website that will explain the process and allows you to apply online. We strongly recommend that you register well before the deadline to avoid risking a late application. The website can be found via this link:- LCC School Admissions
